Fees
At inspire wonder, an initial parent consultation is required to understand concerns and obtain background information of the child and family. This initial consultation usually takes about an hour and costs about $190.
For therapy sessions (50 minutes), the cost is about $160.
For assessments,
-
Cognitive assessment only: $700
-
Psychoeducational assessment involving a cognitive assessment with either literacy or numeracy achievement tests: $1200
-
Psychoeducational assessment involving a cognitive assessment with both literacy and numeracy achievement tests: $1400
-
Additional concerns (e.g., attention) will require additional questionnaires and sometimes a structured interview with parents. These incur additional costs.
For all assessments, a detailed report and follow-up session with the parent is included in the cost of the assessment. Please call to discuss your assessment needs.
Reduced Fees
We offer reduced fees for therapy sessions/educational assessments for families who are under financial duress. Please contact us to discuss this.
We are now accepting new clients for both therapy and assessments.
Referrals
A doctor’s referral is not necessary to access therapy services, or for psycho-educational assessments.
However, for individuals seeking a Medicare rebate, a referral from your General Practitioner (GP) is required via the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. A Mental Health Treatment Plan is prepared by your GP, which allows for a Medicare rebate for up to 10 counselling sessions per calendar year. The Medicare rebate does not apply for the initial parent consultation.
If you are not eligible for a Medicare rebate, some private health insurers offer a rebate, depending on your level of cover. You may wish to contact your insurer to enquire whether you can claim for psychology services through your private health insurance ancillary cover.
Medicare or private health insurance funds typically do not offer a rebate for psychological assessments. Please contact us to discuss your child's needs and the associated fees.
