Fees
At inspire wonder, an initial parent consultation is required to understand concerns and obtain background information of the child and family. This initial consultation may vary in duration (30 minutes to 2 hours depending on referral concerns) and costs from $90.
Counselling /play therapy sessions of about 50 minutes costs about $145.
A full psycho-educational assessment involving a cognitive assessment and a functional literacy and numeracy assessment costs about $1400. If a full assessment is not required, the assessment fee is reduced. Please call to discuss your assessment needs. A detailed report and follow-up session with the parent is included in the cost of the assessment.
Reduced Fees
We offer reduced fees for therapy sessions/educational assessments for families who are under financial duress. Please contact us to discuss this.
Referrals
A doctor’s referral is not necessary to access counselling / play therapy services, or for psycho-educational assessments.
However, for individuals seeking a Medicare rebate, a referral from your General Practitioner (GP) is required via the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. A Mental Health Treatment Plan is prepared by your GP, which allows for a Medicare rebate for up to 10 counselling sessions per calendar year. The Medicare rebate does not apply for the initial parent consultation.
If you are not eligible for a Medicare rebate, some private health insurers offer a rebate, depending on your level of cover. You may wish to contact your insurer to enquire whether you can claim for psychology services through your private health insurance ancillary cover.
Medicare or private health insurance funds typically do not offer a rebate for psychological assessments. Please contact us to discuss your child's needs and the associated fees.
