Fees for consultations are guided by recommendations from the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
At inspire wonder, the initial parent consultation costs $180-$200 (1-1.5 hours), depending on the referral concern. Thereafter, the basic fee structure below applies:
Counselling / play therapy sessions (50 minutes): $135
Full psycho-educational assessment: $1440
Initial parent consultation (1 hour)
Cognitive assessment (2 hours)
Functional literacy/numeracy assessment (2 hours)
Report preparation (3 hours)
Parent feedback (1 hours)
We offer reduced fees for therapy sessions/educational assessments for families who are under financial duress. Please contact us to discuss this.
A doctor’s referral is not necessary to access counselling / play therapy services, or for psycho-educational assessments.
However, for individuals seeking a Medicare rebate, a referral from your General Practitioner (GP) is required via the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. A Mental Health Treatment Plan is prepared by your GP, which allows for a Medicare rebate for up to 10 counselling sessions per calendar year. The Medicare rebate does not apply for the initial parent consultation.
If you are not eligible for a Medicare rebate, some private health insurers offer a rebate, depending on your level of cover. You may wish to contact your insurer to enquire whether you can claim for psychology services through your private health insurance ancillary cover.
Medicare or private health insurance funds typically do not offer a rebate for psychological assessments. Please contact us to discuss your child's needs and the associated fees.
